Armed with last week's study, I did a larger piece adding elements to expand on my dairy theme. I think the eggshells add a nice contrasting note of fragility to the sturdiness of the crockery.

Crémerie (Study)

Looking back in my sketchbook I found I'd done many variations of this peaceful scene. Because I was still unsure if the muted palette, in combination with the ultra simple objects, would be successful, I did this small study. I think it works quite well and I am excited about exploring this theme by doing a larger, more involved piece.

Pommes de novembre

Québec apples are still in abundance through the month of November. I like to get mine at a local farmers market where they are a little smaller and the stems, by comparison, are longer. These great little Macs give me the wonderful complementary colors of red and green to work with.

Walnut Oil and Figs

Each fall I anxiously await fig season and I strive to do a few paintings before these little treats disappear from the market. I enjoy their attitude; they sit squatly and give me a wonderful range of colors to work with.
