Quotidian
(22" x 28" oil on canvas)
I am getting a little bored with my red base, but I must admit it really works well in this composition. In particular I love the surprising touch of red on the down curve of the jug's spout. It was there; I simply exaggerated it. I once had a professor who maintained that every painting should have a surprise for the viewer, something a little unexpected. I believe that little red smudge fits that requirement nicely.
