Over the years I have collected all kinds of props. I have a few basic criteria: simple shape, pleasing proportions, clean colour, and general accessibility. Composing this painting was like pulling together ingredients for a stew or choosing plants for a flower bed, a little bit of height, a little bit of weight, organic shapes in combination with man-made, a few extra dashes of intense colour and it starts to come together.
